Day 9: Singing Sons, and Seeing Snow (from Jan. 9th)

I've been a Dad now for over 15 years and there isn't a day that goes by that I am not thankful that I became one. Children are amazing.  They are so much like us and sometimes I believe God allows our children to exhibit some of the best and worst traits that are actually present within ourselves.  They are little extensions of us in many ways.  Listening to them talk, watching them interact with others, and seeing them change as they grow is a part of my life that makes me smile.  To be honest though listening to my boys sing is something that makes me smile a lot more and even crack up laughing.  Listening to them sing songs from Charlie and The Chocolate Factory is a blast.  Of course they carry on conversations in between the songs and this causes even more laughter.  It is extremely funny sometimes because when they don't understand certain words they just say what they think it sounds like.  Of course this changes the meaning of songs but does that bother them?  Not in the least and to tell you the truth it makes my life so much more interesting.  Enjoy your kids while you have them.  They are only little once and then they grow up.  Listening to them while they are still mostly stress free is something that doesn't last forever.  Cherish the times you can hear the innocence they still possess because this goes away too.

Snow.  That's what they are predicting for us tonight.  Who knows if we will actually see any but if we do it won't be so bad.  The last time it snowed this is what we ended up with:This dirty little snow man didn't last long but he brought some joy while he lasted and he also served as my Facebook profile picture for a good while. Here's to seeing some more of the white stuff. It always seems to bring out the kid in us.
