Day 16 - Goals (from Jan. 16th)

So today I was thinking about goals and I have been off and on since the end of last year.  Because of the title of this blog you realize that one of my big ones for this year is to stay off TV and Facebook and so far things have been good.  Of course TV is on in places but that doesn't mean that I watch it.  It isn't an easy thing when you hear something interesting I must say.  Goals are important to have and this year I have a few goals I'd like to share with you.

1) Read the entire Bible this year.  I'm into a reading plan right now and it is electronic so it is really cool.  What's not cool is that the app is messing up on me and I haven't been able to do the plan for the last couple of days.  Has that stopped me from doing the reading?  No, but it isn't exactly in an order that you could call a plan.  I may need to switch plans but for now I'm continuing to read.

2) Read 52 books by years end.  Yes, that's right 52 books.  That equals out to 1 book a week.  No, it doesn't count my school books, or assignments from class.  This is a totally separate goal.  I want to include some spiritual books, some fun books whether they are fiction or not,  financial how-to books, and of course some cookbooks.

3)  Exercise.  This is a hard one.  I have to admit I'm quite lazy.  There I said it.  Now it is time to get to work.  I need to exercise 3 to 5 times a week for a minimum of 30 minutes.

4) Lose 50 lbs.  This is a goal I have had for the last couple of years and something has derailed me every time.  I think it is time to finally meet this one - and then some.

5)  Pay off debt.  I am making it my goal to pay off many of my small debts this year and then begin working on some of the bigger ones later in the year.

6) Pray.  It is my goal to pray every day.  I mean in the sense of worship too, not the laundry list.  I want to draw nearer to God.

7) Become a better husband and father.  Of course this is tied in with prayer, bible reading, and becoming closer to God.  I guess the book reading can also be part of it.

8)  Practice.  I need to practice my saxophone at least a couple of times a week.  Time to take it to the next level.

9) Minister and lead more in my church. It is my goal to be a go to person at my church.  Someone my pastor knows he can count on.  I just want to serve in whatever capacity I'm needed.

10) Begin cooking for people.  I want to share my gift with people in the ministerial sense.  I want to minister to the needs of the hungry.  I want to reach this goal sometime this year.

These are the first 10 I have pinned down and am certain of.  I am praying that I will be able to fulfill them.  I think they are good goals to have.  If you have any suggestions please feel free to share them.

If you haven't subscribed to this blog.....please make it your goal to do so.  LOL
